Blockchain investigator ZachXBT has identified North Korean IT workers as the perpetrators behind at least 25 hacking and ransomware incidents targeting crypto firms. The attacks, which include exploitations and extortion schemes, highlight a growing security threat to the industry.

U.S. crypto companies have been cautioned against hiring North Korean remote IT workers, who may use AI-powered interview cheats to infiltrate organizations. Amjad Masad, CEO of Replit, initially downplayed the risks, suggesting these workers sought employment primarily for financial gain. ZachXBT countered this claim, emphasizing the malicious intent behind many of these infiltrations.
